Jean Ellis, principal
Jean is a seasoned non-profit executive with more than 30 years of experience. She has a proven track record in fundraising, external affairs, non-profit board development, managing projects, and developing long-term organizational plans.
Until she relocated back to her hometown of Denver, Colorado, Jean led the development efforts for the Wendell Gilley Museum in Maine. Previously in Maine, she led the development, marketing, public relations, and creative efforts for the Farnsworth Art Museum.
While working at The Menil Collection in Houston, she ran the development and marketing departments. During that time, The Menil had a successful $110 million capital campaign and annual fundraising campaigns that raised approximately $5-7 million for program support. During her previous tenure at the Denver Zoo, she was Vice President for Development and Membership. The Zoo successfully concluded the largest capital campaign in its history, and campaign work began for an endowment specifically targeted for conservation work.
Throughout her career, Jean has led or participated in 13 capital and endowment campaigns. Her consulting work has included strategic and organizational planning, development department assessment and organization, donor software consulting, capital campaign management, research and wealth screening, board development and training, and project management.
Jean Ellis graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Denver. She also holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Denver.
